On 7 March 2017, in the attracting and symbolic Terrazza Termini location, the journey leading to the G7 Transport Ministers Meeting in Cagliari, on 21 and 22 June, was officially initiated. The Summit will offer the occasion to share common strategies on transport and infrastructures with the delegates and the Transport Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom, USA and Italy, the Ministerial Representatives, as well as the representatives of public and private companies, experts and other stakeholders of the sector, in order to promote the best Italian practices and solutions resulting from the call for practice.
The event held on 7 March provided the occasion for officially launching the second edition of “Nice to meet you G7” initiative, organized by “Italia Camp” under the aegis of the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport and under the auspices of the G7 Italian Presidency. More than 150 participants including representatives of public and private companies, delegates of associations, universities and Institutions have peacefully be present in one of the largest station in this Country.
At the presence of Minister Graziano Delrio, the representatives focused on the project’s topics - economic, environmental and social sustainability – contributing to the definition of the thematic areas and the Call for practice’s selection criteria.
Since 24 March 2017, we have been looking for best practices and solutions focusing on three macro-areas of sustainability:
Economic Sustainability: through the implementation of streamlined, useful infrastructures and mobility services for achieving the common welfare and promoting territorial development, involving citizens since the earlier phases of the project planning, making technicians and administrators aware of their responsibilities towards the needs of society, promoting the development and upgrading of the already existing assets.
Environmental Sustainability: through the improvement of access to territories, easy connections and integrated infrastructures to support territory, making best use of the existing assets, environmentally friendly services and infrastructures, capable of promoting virtuous and sustainable behaviors.
Social Sustainability: through the promotion of shared infrastructures; accessibility, equity and social cohesion of transport infrastructures, including all categories of citizens, taking into due consideration the most vulnerable segments of the population. Considering technology and innovations as essential driver for a new and better way of moving and living urban spaces.
Visit the website of Italia Camp to present your good practice/solution.
