DELRIO: THE RIGHT TO MOBILITY, A SOCIAL GOOD FOR OUR DEMOCRACIES

"The right of mobility for everyone should be recognized as a social good from modern democracies - says the Minister Graziano Delrio. “In this regards, infrastructure and transport systems become an essential tool in facilitating people’s access to territories. They also play a unique role to enhance socio-economic development, bringing well-being and prosperity of our communities. In order to achieve all of these ambitious objectives, we need to create resilient and sustainable infrastructures aimed at protecting the environment, insuring accountable public finance management and creating a shared vision of the strategies we will put in place”.
With these words, Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, Graziano Delrio, announced the launch of the upcoming G7 Transport Ministers, the first official conference of the initiative under the Italian Presidency, that will take on June 21 and 22 in Cagliari – Sardinia.
The Summit will be the occasion for the EU to address the most crucial issues concerning mobility in the next future: Do transport infrastructures have social values for G7 countries? What these countries are doing to promote automated guided vehicles running on smart roads?
Summer main topic:
To engage on the Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV ) in continuing with the previous meeting in 2016 in Karuizawa, Nagano (Japan) under the Japanese presidency;
For the first time, the G7 Italy will focus on social cohesion, inclusiveness and sustainability of infrastructures;
Transport infrastructures: a problem or opportunity for communities and territories?
Transport system is a way to guarantees the right to mobility for everyone, but how?
Conference working sessions: After the arrival of delegations from the seven ministers on June 21, G7 Transport will start officially the following day at the former tobacco industry, “Manifattura Tabacchi”, in Cagliari, Headquarters of the G7 Transport.
There will be three sessions: the morning’s session will be on the social role of infrastructures, sustainability and programming. In the afternoon, the participants will share the best practices on infrastructures and sustainable transports The discussion during last session will cover connected technologies and automated guidance.
