
16 June 2016 – The bilateral meeting between the Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, Graziano Delrio, and the Minister of Transport, Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic, Roman Brecely was held today.
Slovakia is preparing to take on the Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the Program for the next EU Semester on transport sector has been introduced by Minister Brecely to Minister Delrio.
The Ministers shared the key role of establishing a single transport market in order to promote the rights to mobility, to help economic recovery and job creation, as well as supporting competitiveness.
In particular, the Slovak Presidency – ensuring continuity with the last Dutch Presidency – will focus on EASA regulation review for the air transport sector, on the development of negotiating mandates for the aviation agreements recently approved, as well as the professional qualification regulation for Inland Navigation and the regulations of EMSA Agency for maritime transport. Furthermore, negotiations for reducing emissions of Civil Aviation will be held as well as supporting progress made in EU negotiations for the public services that use Galileo Global Navigation Satellite System. As for railway sector, Ministers intend to promote a new convention for promoting a direct international cooperation between railway undertakings of the free market.
