10 August 2016 - The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Graziano Delrio, met this morning at the Ministry, the Vice President of the Government of the Russian Federation, Arkady Vladimirovic Dvorkovic, during his journey to Italy.
The Meeting was held in view of the Italian-Russian Council for economic, financial and industrial cooperation, that will meet on October 5th in Rome and that will be co-chaired by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Paolo Gentiloni and the Deputy Prime Minister Dvorkovic.
The bilateral meeting focused on the topics of mutual collaboration and investments in infrastructure and transport sectors: the Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister agreed on the need to strengthen transportation infrastructures for facilitating connections as well as economic and cultural exchanges.
The perspectives of collaboration were therefore assessed as well as the participation in the development of the Russian railway sector, in particular the high-speed rail lines, along with promoting the modernization, technical equipment and management of motorway sector for which bilateral contacts are currently underway.
It has also been confirmed the mutual commitment to bring to a successful conclusion the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding on air services and it has also shown the mutual interest for partnership in order to increase investments, technological innovation and management of transportation infrastructures, including airports and ports.
In preparation for the bilateral Council in October , meetings will continue in September with the Bilateral Working Group session on infrastructures and transports, in which technical experts of the Ministry will participate.
