26 August 2016 - The Undersecretary of State for Infrastructures and Transport, Umberto Del Basso De Caro, has participated, on behalf of the Italian Government, to the Inauguration Ceremony of the Third Bridge over Bosporus Strait “Yyavuz Sultan Selim”, held at Istanbul (Turkey) on August 26th 2016, at the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim and the Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Ahmet Arslan. The Ceremony was attended also by the Italian Ambassador to Turkey, Luigi Mattiolo and the top management of Astaldi Group, which implemented the works, for a share of 33% out of a total amount 3 billion dollars (including the implementation of 250 km of access motorways and access roads) through the ICA Ictas-Astaldi joint venture, awarded for contract in 2012.
The huge bridge, linking Europe and Asia, is the only suspended bridge in the World hosting a 8- lane motorways (4 for each way) and 2 railway lines for a width of 59 metres, and the highest towers in the World, proving the excellence of the Italian companies abroad.
